Subject: DDM Ranking order
Subject: Re: DDM Ranking order
United States Army Ranks
Same thing for Air Force as far as officers are concerned. Navy officers are Ensign, Lieutennant Junior Grade, Lieutennant, Lieutennant Commander, Commander, Captain, Rear Admiral Lower Half, Rear Admiral Upper Half, Vice Admiral, Admiral, and Fleet Admiral. So, if Starfleet ranks were based on Army/Air Force rather than Navy, Captain Kirk would be Colonel Kirk. [EDIT] - I should note however, that even though it is not likely DDM uses all the US Army ranks, each players concern would most likely be better if placed on enjoying the game , rahter than where they stand on the hierarchy.

Turk, Soul and I went through the ranks we're going to use this morning. It's on the ZME site.
Sal, do you happen to have the old medal images we used to use and all the descriptions for which we gave them? It'd be cool if I could do that for the guys, now. :P

I have to agree with Naplam here. focus on the game insteag of rank is a bit higher priority lol. The objectives are: Have fun, gain skill, and practice T.A.C.O.
Subject:
I second the support for Napalm's edit. The hierarchy was always taken extremely loosely back in the day. Everyone is encouraged to make suggestions and present ideas that will improve the level of teamplay and the fun that we have. Ranks are really just there in case we need them.

we had ranks back in the day? lol

never held a rank till youve held it twice...
fratricides a motherfucker.
Subject: Re: DDM Ranking order
Rank can be a good thing if used properly.
When DDM was divided into battalions and lances, each senior officer was charged with several junior linesman. Somewhat of a mentor/student relationship. If rank is used to encourage growth, it is good. If rank is used to segregate, it is bad. Also.. rank comes in handy when superior strategy requires absolute compliance and well-executed timing. Other than that.. it's good for cool insignias

I remember teaching people how to be invisible. Radar tactics as well as proper flanking/sniping without being seen.
I recall winning MANY games without ever being seen ;) Page 1 of 2
