just the creature creator is out, the game itself comes out sept 7th. I have seen a few screenshots of the vehicle creator, and that is what i really want to get my hands on.
I saw one shot of the wheels page for the vehicle creator and one row was all different knids of mech legs.

It's pretty cool. The game itself is pretty fun, but it's really all about the content creation tools. There were almost 4 million creatures uploaded before the game launched, and now it's over 10 million.
Every time I load a map or a new stage it shows me the creatures it is loading in with me, and it's a heavy dose of my own creations (whether they were uploaded or not), mixed in with stuff it downloaded made by random dudes. Millions and millions of random dudes.
Imaging an MMO with creation tools like that... you could have millions of suits of armor, millions of mounts, millions of houses. There might actually be enough content to even hold my attention.

i'm liking it ,for a rts type sim kind of game with all kinds of stuffs to do it's fun to mess around with,,,but i havn't gotten into the "my sporepages" and the spore casts and stuff yet ,,,i do like how it gives you achievements and stuff for doing things and i have only made 1 dude to bring up so far since i didn't have the full creature creator like some other peoples
i have made it to the civilization stage and am going to play that tonight in my effort to reach for the stars i would imagine it gets a little more difficult now
and by the way my account is 'metalfiend" and my 1 dude is a morthog

The space stage is where the RTS part of the game really takes off. There are too many stars to keep track of.

I put the DRM to the test... I already had the game installed on my machine, Parker's and Zac's. I sent the DVD home with my sister and she installed it on two more machine at her house with no hassle.
I think a lot of people incorrectly labeling the game with the same DRM as the creature creator... which could only be installed 3 times. I know first hand that it isn't the case with the full game.
If you know someone with the game, borrow it and check it out. The first three stages are pretty simple, and can be run through in no time at all.... but the game really comes alive when you get to space. There are thousands and thousands of stars, all with planets you can teraform and colonize... or take by force is another race already has them.
This really might be the best single player game ever made. I can't believe so many people are giving it low user review scores based on it's copy protection features... unfairly and incorrectly for the most part. I haven't run in to a single issue with it, and bent the EULA right in half without it breaking on me.

After initially posting I read somewhere the negative feedback from amazon.com users was a "revolt" of sorts.
