What is funny about the music pirating is that it has been going on as long people were able to record/make copies.
What caused the RIAA (and the MPAA) to go to war was the distribution system. It was too fast, so it could not be ignored. It was no longer copying your neighbors or friends media at a 1:1 ratio, it was you taking a copy of someone you never met, along with maybe 14 others at the same time.
Which the article leads to and I am sure the publishers in this instance do not like. Regardless of whether we or the publishers like programs like Steam, they are cheap, effective and currently offer the most profit to the proper people.
